Fascia

Structural Integration works with your muscles and bones and the body-wide system of connective tissue that wraps around them called fascia. This inter-connected fascial web senses movement, gives your body it’s shape, and is highly adaptive. The fascial network adjusts itself to your regular physical activities as well as your ongoing structural imbalances. Some causes of postural imbalance include injury, trauma, dysfunctional or repetitive movements, inflammation, or simply age. Over time the fascia and muscles of an imbalanced structure will become dense, fatigued, sore, less coordinated and more prone to injury.

Fortunately touch, movement and awareness as applied during a Structural Integration session can change the shape of the fascial network, as well as the tone of the muscles and alignment of the bones embedded within it. You re-pattern ineffectual movement habits, release pain and awaken your inherent potential to move through the world with effortless grace.
