The full benefit of Structural Integration unfolds through a series of twelve sessions designed to systematically address your entire body structure. It is only through the complete twelve session series that the whole body system of compensations involved in myo-skeletal chronic pain and functional limitation can be addressed. Ineffectual movement habits are also re-patterned through this cumulative process. For those who have completed the twelve series I offer Advanced Work.
The twelve session series follows a systematic flow that reflects the body’s organic process of opening. The goals for each of the twelve sessions are similar for everyone, however what needs to take place to achieve the session goals is unique to each individual. This is why a somatic approach that honors your body’s innate wisdom is so important for the work to succeed.
Sessions 1 – 4
Releasing and Balancing the Sleeve
The sleeve is comprised of the large muscles on the outer layers of your body that are responsible for moving your limbs through space. Releasing the sleeve makes room for us to begin working with the core.
Sessions 5 – 8
Releasing and Balancing the Core
The core includes the involuntary muscles of posture. These are the smaller muscles located in the most central layers of your limbs and torso. They are constantly at work to sustain your posture while standing, sitting and moving. Re-balancing the core of the body is the key to releasing most pains and limitations from their roots.
Sessions 9 – 12
The Integration Sessions
These four sessions are when all the newly differentiated parts that have found increased balanced through the work so far come together again and learn to work as an integrated whole. This is where you ground the new, more efficient movement patterns that you’ll take with you into the future.
